Chapter 39
***OLIVIA***
I woke up the next morning to the sound of my alarm and I groaned inwardly. I opened my eyes and climbed down from the bed. Thoughts of the carnal things that went on between the hot room service guy and me aroused all over as I switched off the alarm on my phone.
He wasn’t here so he must have woken up early to resume back to work. I bent down and picked up my clothes that littered the floor. It was the start of another day and I had to face what I had come for; finding Jordan.
I took a quick bath and got dressed after which I checked out at the reception. The hot-room-service guy was there and I think I saw him wink at me. I wish I could have his contact, but there was no time to waste. Maybe next time.
I boarded a cab to DC and had the vehicle halt before the internal affairs building. I walked into the building and entered an elevator to the executive floor. The elevator’s door soon hissed open and I stepped out.
As I reached the entrance to the executive floor, I was stopped by two guards.
“Your security clearance?” One of the guards asked and I sighed. I reached into my bag and pulled out a security clearance that had been given to me by Nico. Too bad I dumped him. We both went on a vacation to Miami and suddenly, five days ago, I woke up already bored of the relationship.
I took a flight back to Los Angeles while he was still sleeping and I haven't picked up his calls since then. If only I knew I would soon need him.
I was allowed to pass and I checked my wristwatch. It was still early and Nico wouldn’t resume any time soon. He would kill me if he saw me. I walked into a familiar office where a man sat before his desk. He looked up from his computer and glanced at me.
“Olivia!" He smiled, “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you around here.”
“Sorry Jax, I was away attending Paris Fashion Week. Couldn’t miss it.” I lied. Well, I would have gone to Paris Fashion Week if this issue hadn’t come up.
“Is Nico here?” He asked. Great. Nico didn’t tell him anything so he believes Nico and I are still a thing. I would expect Nico to have too much ego to tell anyone I left him in Miami.
“No. I actually came to see him and I was told he hadn’t resumed for the day so I came to see you.” I dropped my bag on his table.
“Do you mind if I use your toilet?” I asked and he replied, “No.”
I walked into the toilet and waited for a while before opening the door and sticking out my head.
“Oh, my God. Jax!” I exclaimed and he looked in my direction.
“I actually don’t know how to say this.” I faked an embarrassed expression and continued, “I’m actually in my menstrual period and right now, my pad is soaked.”
“Oh.” Jax smiled.
“Oh, my God…..I feel so embarrassed.” I paused, “my skirt is stained and I can’t go out, could you help me get a pad and a clean skirt.” I smiled nervously and he nodded.
“Sure.” He grabbed his wallet from his desk and walked out. As soon as he stepped out, I walked out of the toilet and went to his computer. It was open.
I went to his files and searched for the keyword, ‘NEXUS SERVICES.’
There were a lot of files from the search and I didn’t know which one I needed. I grabbed my phone from my bag and hurriedly dialed a number. It rang out for a sec and the call was picked.
“Hey, Mark…..could you please do me a favor and get me the name of any new facility newly launched by Nexus Services?” J waited for a while and he got back to me.
“Okay, thanks.” I cut the call and scrolled through the files I had searched earlier. I smiled as I spotted the file I needed.
‘NEXUS SERVICES RIPPER DETENTION FACILITY. ‘
I pulled out my flash drive and inserted it into the computer before copying the file I needed. As soon as the file was complete, I ran back into the toilet and soon, the door was opened.
“Jax?” I asked from inside the toilet and he echoed a reply, “I got 'em.”
“Thanks.” I stretched out my hands from inside the toilet and collected the nylon bag from him. I changed into the skirt he got, but I hid the pad in my bag and got out.
“You’re done?” Jax asked and I nodded in affirmation.
“I’ll take my leave now. I’ll come back later.” I grabbed my bag before walking out of his office. I didn’t walk too far before taking out the pad and throwing it in the thrash.
“Bullshit,” I muttered.
***
I walked into a cyber shop and requested an available computer. I was directed to one and I hurriedly inserted the flash drive, opening the file I had copied. There was a list of a total of 128 vampire inmates and I scrolled through the name before stopping on the one I wanted, Jordan Cavill.
I got a call from a human friend of Jordan that while he and Jordan were at a Vampire club in L.A., the club was raided by Nexus Services officials and they arrested Jordan.
Humans have caused so much harm to Vampires already, are they now rounding up innocent ones too??
Jordan's name didn't come up on the result and I frowned. If Nexus had him then surely they would document his identity and details.
I sighed and retrieved the flash drive from the computer. This was a waste of time.
If Jordan was arrested by Nexus then they would take him to their facility. I stopped as I realized something.
What if they were still transporting him? Then they could only document him after they've signed him into a facility. I put the flash drive back in and checked if there was any transportation in progress or happening soon.
There was one happening tomorrow and the Vampires would be taken to a new facility here in D.C.
