Chapter 42

6 YEARS AGO. .
"I'm calling about the woman they brought in earlier after Wolves attacked her," he said.
"Okay. I'm on my way," I replied and cut the call before he could say anything else. I grabbed my lab coat and put it on as I walked out of my office and locked the door.
I put my hands in my pocket as I walked into the elevator and pushed the button for the ground floor. I stepped out as the doors opened and I hurried to the ward.
I walked to the bed of the patient expecting to see her awake, but the bed was empty.
"What happened?? Where is she?" I asked the nurse and intern standing at the other end of the bed and they both glanced at each other before looking at me.
"You don't know where she is," I said in realization and they confirmed with a slight nod.
I sighed and rested my palms on my waist. Who was this woman and why did she suddenly disappear??
We don't know who she is and she could be anywhere in the hospital right now with lot's of vulnerable patients.
"Alert the guards now, find her," I said, pointing at the both of them with a hard glare.
I pushed my labcoat back swiftly and walked out of the ward. I was about to walk into the elevator, but I stopped and reared my head sideways.
There was someone walking down the hallway on the left. Her back was turned against me, but it looked like the lady we were looking for.
She was walking very slowly and looking around, seemingly confused. I immediately went after her and stopped right in her way.
She looked up at me with an interesting curiosity in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, but you need to return to the ward so your injuries can heal," I said and she raised an eyebrow curiously before glancing at her arms that were plastered.
I don't know how the attack was, but she could have suffered a blow to the head that could leave her in a confused state or worse.
"You're in a hospital and you were rushed here by some men who rescued you from a wolf attack," I explained to her and I saw something lit up in her eyes.
It was as if she remembered something scary.
"I promise you, you're safe here, you just need to return to your ward for some monitoring," I said and she stared at me blankly.
"Is that okay?" I asked and she didn't respond for a while before she slightly nodded.
"Okay, follow me, will you?" I said and I began to walk back to the ward. I looked back and smiled as I saw that she was following me.
As we got to the ward, I pointed at her bed. She glanced at the bed and back at me before lying down on the bed.
I looked around, but I couldn't find anyone else around, they were probably all searching for her.
"I'm just gonna change the bandage," I said and I carefully took off the bandage so I could replace it.
My eyes widened in surprise and I almost gasped as I saw that her arm had healed up already. There was still a scar there, but it had closed up and stopped bleeding.
"Oh wow, it was a really deep wound, how did it heal up so quickly?" I asked myself silently and she seemed to have heard me as she glanced at her arm.
I walked to the other side of the bed and took off the bandage on the other arm.
It had also healed up like her right arm
"Maybe the blood was covering it up and making it seem big," I said and I dropped the bandages.
"So, what's your name?" I asked, trying to distract her as I put the drip back in her arm.
"Larissa," she replied and winced as I insert the drip into her arm. She had a beautiful voice.
I grabbed her file that was on the stand next to her bed and opened it.
"So we carried out some tests on you and it shows here that you're one month pregnant," I said and she immediately sat up on the bed in surprise.
"Pregnant?" She asked in shock. There were only two reasons why she acted that way, she didn't want the pregnancy or she had been expecting a baby.
"Yes."
"Fuck," she muttered silently and closed her eyes as she leaned into her bed.
I'm guessing it's the former reason.
"Nobody has come to see you, do you have any family or relative we could call?" I asked and she opened her eyes.
She appeared to think for a while before shaking her head.
"No."
Oh wow.
"What about any friend or colleague?" I asked and she shook her head again.
"Lar... Larissa, what about the father of the baby?" I asked and she remained silent for a while. I was curious about what was going on in my mind.
"I don't know. I don't remember anything," she said and I stepped back a bit. That explains why she seemed so confused earlier.
It looked like she had a memory loss or something. We would need to perform a brain scan on her.
"Larissa, what do you remember about yourself?" I asked and moved closer to her.
"Nothing. The only thing I remember is waking up here," she replied and I sighed.
This could be temporary because of shock or mild head trauma, but it could be more serious than that.
"Don't worry, we'll help you figure this out," I said to assure her and she nodded, with a very faint smile on her face.
I took out my phone from my pocket and called the nurse. I intentionally waited since I found her so they would keep searching after being so careless to lose her.
"I've found her, come back to the ward now."
