My Rejected Mate And Our Secret Triplets Chapter 78

Chapter 78

Logan’s pov.

I let out a frustrated sigh as I watched Larissa walk past me for the second time today without so much as acknowledging my existence.

It hurt more than I wanted to admit and she’d completely refused to listen to whatever explanation I had to give.

It was not only disheartening, it was making me lose focus when it came to my Alpha duties.

She was even my mate now but she’d refused to acknowledge me. All she’d done for the past couple of days after the fight with Alvina was, check on my father, administer some medications to him and go back to her room or outside the pack house.

“Larissa…” I called after her, tired of this game of- I wasn’t even sure this was a game anymore.

As usual, she didn’t so much as glance at me. She just kept walking like I hadn’t just called out her name.

I caught up with her in no time and stood right in front of her, blocking her path. She narrowed her eyes at me but I didn’t care.

I needed to explain myself somehow.

“Larissa, this is getting ridiculous. Talk to me!” I said in an exasperated tone.

She scanned my face, looking me up and down before speaking.

“Fine!!. Your father is stable for now, his brain waves haven’t changed but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Also, I’m going to be performing the surgery in three days time. I’ll need assistance from the physicians in the pack. Please inform them.”

She said in a formal and monotone voice as if she was talking to a business partner or something before walking past me again.

I stood there blinking before pursuing her again,

“That’s not what I meant…” I said, catching up to her again and blocking her path.

She stopped in her tracks and let out a sigh that showed that she was getting impatient with me but I didn’t care. I couldn’t let her go on thinking that I was in love with Alvina.

Without waiting for her to speak, I blurted out, “I don’t love Alvina.”

She scoffed.

“Yess, that explains why she’s back in the pack when she’s supposed to be a banished traitor,”

She said dryly.

“She begged me,” I said weakly, realizing how weak my words sounded half way.

“You know you really have balls made of iron,” she began, folding her arms across her Chest, dropping or civility.

“First, you have your men kidnap me and uproot me from my life and then you lie to me about loving me and then you invited the woman that made my life miserable when I was still in this pack back to the pack, a woman that fucked another man behind your back. Your beta to be exact and you want me to speak to you so bad? Well here are some words for you,” she spat, her eyes angry.

“I hate you and I hate myself for ever loving you. You’ve always betrayed me but when it comes to her? You’ve always been there and I’m tired of it. I’m tired of always being the last choice, I’m tired of being used by you and your family. So I’m sorry Logan, that I don’t buy your bullshit explanations. I don’t want to hear it.”

Her voice was cutting and clipped that I didn’t move from my spot for a good five minutes even after she’d walked past me to her room.

It wasn’t until I felt the presence of Nolan approaching, that I finally turned around.

“Nolan,” I tried to offer the man a smile but it came out as a grimace.

“Any problem?” I asked.

“Actually, yes Alpha, I just received word from our spy outside the pack. The pack might be in danger.” Nolan said.

“What on earth are you talking about?” I demanded.

***

“Do we know why?” I asked in the council meeting hours later after Nolan had told me what happened.

Apparently Rogues have been attacking nearby packs and collecting their gold and taking their women.

It was unseal because Rogues were only bold enough to attack entire packs if there wasn’t an Alpha or an Alpha had really wronged them and they had a spy on the inside.

“Most of these packs near us have been experiencing a bit of inconsistency in power. Like the Shadowmoon pack’s Alpha just died and they were in a sad and vulnerable state when the Rogues attacked.”

Steve said.

“Still, they cannot easily overpower a pack like Shadowmoon. They are one of the most powerful packs with powerful soldiers and weaponry.”

I made eye contact with one of the elders and he nodded thoughtfully.

“Jason suggested that they had weapons with them or witches. I’m not quite sure yet.” Steve was the one to speak this time.

“Whatever the case maybe. We need to prepare for any possible attack so we can protect the pack at all costs. We don’t want a repeat of the last decade.” Elder Jakob said.

The weight of his Words hung heavy in the meeting room as the memories of the last decade found its way to the surface of our memories. The wounds of the last decade are still fresh in our minds.

There was no way I was going to get caught off guard like my father had been. I was going to protect the pack at all costs.

The meeting ended with the conclusion that we would increase the number of guards at the border and get more weapons from the other packs. We were not sure when the rogues would strike but whenever that was, we would be beyond prepared.

As I came out of the meeting, Elder Jakob followed me out. We were the only two people left now that the meeting was over save for Nolan and Steve and they were busy giving out instructions to the guards.

“Elder Jakob, do you want to say something?” I asked, and halted.

“Yes, I never thanked you for letting my daughter back into the pack”

“Thank you,”

I give him a small smile.

“It’s no problem,”

“Also, I would like to talk to you about something,”

“What is it?” I asked.

“I think we might need to employ other methods of protecting ourselves,”

“And what’s that?”

“witches,”
