Chapter 87
Larissa pov.
“I have to go up to check on things,” I said to Jack in the dungeon.
“Absolutely not, it’s dangerous up there,”
Jack held my hands from walking away.
“But Logan’s father is up there all alone. What if something goes wrong?” I asked, a little fidgety.
“How do you still care about these monsters? They’ve been nothing but diabolical to you!”
“Because they are my family! That's it, whether you like it or not!” I yelled anger clouding my vision.
I was so tired of pretending that I was something I clearly wasn’t.
Jack’s eyes went from anger to hurt but I didn’t care.
I was scared, scared for Logan’s life. He’d told me only seconds after we’d come out of surgery that he was heading out to stop the rouges from coming into the pack.
I hadn’t understood most of his ramblings because he’d left immediately he told Steve to take us somewhere safe.
I walked out of the dungeon but Jack didn’t stop me this time.
I heard my kids calling out my name but I didn’t answer. I needed them to be safe.
I didn’t care what happened to me but I needed to keep going.
As I got out from underneath the dungeon and I to the dungeon, I couldn’t help but notice a few criminals in their cells…
What would happen to them if the rogues won?
No, they wouldn’t. I’d go check up on Logan’s father and then go to the border to fight. I wasn’t going to let Logan go alone without any help. I couldn’t do it. I can't stay here like a weakling.
I needed to go fight by his side.
As I snuck into the pack house, I went straight into the room of the Former Alpha.
I had been right to come up here. The monitor was beeping.
I began to check his vitals. His heart rate was going down and fast. Quickly, I injected him and I held my breath waiting for his heart rate to stabilize. Shit. It continued to drop.
I took a Chance and injected him one more time… he was either going to die instantly from this shot or he was going to come back to life. Either way, there was a 80/20% chance that he was in fact going to die or live.
His hesrt rate continued to drop and just when I thought I had killed him, the monitor began to beep again. His rate was stabilizing.
I let out a sigh. That was close.
I watched him for a while but he didn’t wake up. We’d done everything we could, the rest was up to him. It was a 50/50 change surgery..
I left the Alpha’s room about to run to the border when I stopped in my tracks.
“Alvina!” My eyes widened as I saw Alvina standing in front of me, her eyes blazing.
“You bitch!” She ran head first toward me and punched me so hard, I fell ten feet back, bursting open the Alpha’s room and onto his bed.
Shit!
I scrambled to stand up so, I could place the Alpha properly but Alvina was already before me.
She grabbed my hair and flung me outside the room and I landed on a stool holding a wolf’s head in the hallway.
“You think you can have my man?” She yelled, running toward me.
I dodged seconds before she landed her punch and she ended up punching the wall.
I swerved away from her when she was about to punch me again, pulled myself up and managed to pull her by the hair.
I flung her towards the wall in front of Me and she groaned out in pain.
“You no longer have the Alpha's power. What made you think you could kill me?" I growled.
I didn’t give her an opportunity to answer, I began to punch her and pummel her to the ground until she was bloodied beyond recognition.
“Larissa!” I heard Jack call behind me, I glanced at him and he was staring at me like he had just seen a monster.
I moved away from Alvina and his eyes widend.
He definitely recognized her.
“That’s her,” he pointed.
“I know, I know, she came to finish me off.”
“Your eyes and fingers,” he glanced at me.
I looked down and looked up at him.
“This is who I truly am.” I said, hoping he wasn’t scared of me.
“Behind you!” He yelled and looked back to see Alvina with a dagger about to stab me, I moved out of the way but she managed to stab me in the arms.
“I’m going to kill you!” She growled and pulled the dagger from my arm.
I fell to the ground and she stood over me, about to stab me.
I was trying to move but I was too weak to.
Alvina pulled the dagger back and plunged into my stomach. I waited for the pain to come but instead nothing.
I opened my eyes to find Alvina’s body on the floor, her head separated from it.
I looked over at Jack and he was holding a sword covered in blood.
“Jack…” I whispered as tears began to roll down my eyes.
He dropped the sword and began to move back, his hands shaking.
“Jack! It’s okay,” I pulled myself up to a sitting position.
“I killed her,” he shook.
“You saved my life!” I said, my eyes watering.
“Mom!” Diana Called as she and her brothers ran toward me.
“Jack! Please stop them, they can’t see this.” Jack sprung into action and blocked their path.
“Mom’s fine, come on!” He forced them away from the scene and I sighed and forced myself up.
Every part of my body hurt. My shoulders hurt worse because it had been stabbed by Alvina’s daggar that I suspected contained wolfsbane..
I was walking toward the former Alpha’s chambers when I heard voices coming from outside the pack. I turned around and it was Nolan, he was bloodied from every angle.
“Nolan! Where is he?” I asked.
He stared at me, his eye empty.
“No,” I shook my head.
“He’s alive,” he said quietly.
I smiled in relief and limped to the door.
“Logan!” I yelled out to him and ran toward him, hugging him.
He grunted in pain but held me in his arms.
“Did we win?”
I asked.
He nodded and smiled.
“Yes! What happened to your arms?” I asked.
“Derek…” his eyes hardened.
“What ? What happened?”
“I’ll tell you all about it but I have someone to show you…”
“Who?” I glanced up to see a man in a Cloak
“Who is he?” I asked. For some reason I felt a huge connection to the stranger. I couldn’t see his face unfortunately…
The stranger stepped forward.
“It’s you,” he said, his voice sounding teary.
I stared blankly at him.
He took of his mask and I gasped, my eyes wide.
“Dad?” I asked
“Yes,” he nodded.
“I am sorry…” I ran into his arms before he could finish his sentence, hugging him tightly.
Tears flowed down my face.
“I never thought I’d see you again,” I cried.
“I missed you so much child,”
“Logan?” A voice called from behind, we all looked back and it was the former Alpha, standing just a couple of feet away.
“Father!” Logan yellled and ran to hug him.
A few seconds later, the Former Luna came out and we all were reunited again.
Elder Jakob stood in a cage as the elders pronounced him guilty of lying against my father and treason against the Alpha.
Elder Jakob had been the one to activate and lead the rogue many years ago into the pack and not my father. He’d lied against him which made my father banished.
I hugged my father as the council supported the sentence of the Elders.
Elder Jakob was to die by hanging..
"Larrisa __"
I cringed at Jack's voice, guilt pilling up in my heart. I couldn't look at him in his face.
I guess I have to settle everything once and for all
“Jack, I’m sorry but it’s Logan, I love,” I finally let the words out, waiting for him to react chaotically.
“I knew that from the beginning.” Jack admitted, “I just wanted you to admit it and maybe needed to hear it from you so I could finally let go,”
“I’m sorry,” tears fell from my eyes.
“It’s fine darling,” Jack said, wiping my tears away.
“I’m going to miss you and the kids,” he said.
“You don’t have to leave. You can stay. The former Alpha and Elders have agreed to make you an honorary member of the pack, they will build you a house and everything,”
“As nice as that sounds, I can’t bear to watch you everyday with another man. Besides I still have a life outside of the pack.” Jack smiled sadly.
“All I want is to see my kids every month for one week,” he said.
“Of course,” I nodded.
“Dad please don’t go!” Diana, Dave and Daniel rushed towards Jack, begging him not to leave.
“I have to but I promise to come visit as often as I can,”
He crouched down and hugged them.
They began to cry and I couldn’t help but cry along.
I wished I could have loved Jack the way he’d deserved to be loved.
I waved Jack a goodbye and so did the entire pack as he was led by the guards back to the human world.
“You chose an amazing man to be our kids father.” Logan came to stand beside me.
“You or Jack?” I asked.
“Jack.” He Said..
“Never knew a family could have two fathers but I don’t think I mind Jack being a second father to the kids “
“I fear that he’s actually the first.”
I teased. I was only half teasing. The kids will Always consider Jack as their real father and I didn’t mind.
Logan surprisingly was not offended by my statement.
"Wait... How did you know the kids were yours?"
"I'm not stupid, Larrisa. I'm not" he grinned.
“Mom, why can’t we go with Dad?”
Diana asked, interrupting us.
“We will one day… I’m still a doctor after all.”
Diana smiled and hugged me and so did her brothers and Logan.
I guess they will have to learn to accept Logan as their father.
And for the record, I can't wait to be Luna of this pack.
