Chapter 86
LOGAN’S POV
It was around 10pm and my warriors and soldiers were already stationed in their respective positions.
I hadn't said anything to the pack yet. I had, however, spoken to the council members and elders about the raid and they had prepared themselves for the worst.
I couldn't believe they had been planning an ambush in my pack. What had possessed them?
Armed with bows and arrows, and two hundred normal wolves, my soldiers and I marched towards the border and past the border to wait for the Rogues. I had some of my soldiers hiding in trees and valleys.
We would ambush the ambushers and if that didn't work? We'd fight to the death.
"Steve, how are things back at the pack house?"
I asked as Steve came to join us. I had left him in charge of getting my mother, Jack and Larissa and their kids to a safe place in the pack house.
They had finally performed the surgery on my father but there was still no response from him. He had not shown any signs of waking up and I had already given up on the fact that he would.
"Fine, the Luna and the humans are in a safe place under the dungeons."
"Good, we have to win this fight, no matter what." I said to Steve and he immediately nodded.
"We will," Nolan responded while standing beside me, his eyes wide with anger.
My men were ready and I could feel it.
"""""
"They are here!" Nolan spoke to me through the mind link.
"Finally. Tell the shooters to get ready!”
"Yes, Alpha!"
Two minutes later, I heard Nolan howl out. That’s the signal for the shooters to shoot.
I stood up and watched as arrows flew from different angles, hitting some of the rogue soldiers. The closer they came, the more they fell.
The fight seemed to be in our favor, that was until fire started randomly hitting the shooters and they began falling to the ground.
“What the hell is that?” I was bemused and perplexed with my eyes opened in shock
"What the fuck is going on?"
I asked Nolan as more of the shooters began to fall from the trees, yelling as they burnt to a blood.
"I don't know sir; our soldiers seem to be randomly going ablaze!" Nolan grunted through the mind link.
"It appears they have a witch with them or something!" Nolan yelled through the mind link again.
This was bad, This really was bad. Why did the rogues have a witch with them?
Did they have no shame at all?
Werewolves prided themselves with their reluctance to associate with witches.
They were vile creatures that lied about everything and anything. They could not be trusted. I knew they were rogues but I didn't expect them to result in enlisting a witch's help.
Jakob had been right in enlisting the help of witches. Whatever. We were going to win this war no matter what.
"Release the wolves!" I yelled when too many of our shooters began to fall to their demise.
The wolves ran straight ahead and then began to devour some of the rogue soldiers in their path.
Their teeth had been treated with wolfsbane and it was killing the rogues instantly.
After minutes of the wolves devouring the rogue soldiers. I announced to my men to charge.
We charged out the rest of the rogue soldiers, tearing each ones apart, from limb to limb. Some of my men were being devoured. At some point the rogues were winning but I wasn't giving up.
"Logan!" One of the rogues that had just arrived called out to me. I glanced back, wondering who the fuck he was.
"What do you want?" I growled, "who are you?"
"You don't remember me, do you?" He asked.
"No," I growled with a frown.
"It's barely been six months, Logan," he said.
I frowned, "Show yourself and take of your mask,"
"With pleasure…" he said and took of his mask.
I almost fell to the ground.
"Derek." I glared.
"In the flesh," he smiled.
"What Is the meaning of this?" I asked.
"I have come to take what's rightfully mine, my pack, the Alpha position, and Alvina."
I laughed heartily at him.
"You can have Alvina. She has no use to me. What you can't have is my birthright,"
I growled and jumped at him, using my claws to tear his face. If he hadn't dodged my attack, the move would have been more fatal.
"Too slow," he grinned and his eyes turned red and he ran towards me, punching me across the face.
I richoted back but caught myself in time before I hit a tree behind me.
"You are pathetic Derek, joining forces with the rogues and a witch?"
"I'm pathetic? I'm not the one who stole another man's woman and position! You never fought to be Alpha… it was given to you… you are the pathetic one!"
He yelled and grabbed me and began to punch me, every blow felt like I was being hit by fire.
I couldn't even move. What on earth was on his fists. Why did it hurt so much?
"Does it hurt? It's supposed to." He grinned as he continued to pummel me to the ground.
"And I don't have the backing of any witch!! Only of a family herlum. You see this necklace?" He showed me the necklace in his palms.
"It was given to me by my grandmother, it saved my life when you banished me from the pack six months ago.” He chuckled wickedly.
“Did you know there are werewolves artifact and trinkets that contain witch powers? I bet you didn't.” He smashed my head to the tree and I could feel my head spinning. He wouldn’t stop talking and it was boring to me, plus the pain I was engulfed in.
“There are so many of them but they are usually tied to one family. If your family has a herlum that has been passed down from generations or have been blessed by the moon goddess or even a witch. Only that family can use whatever powers that are contained in it. Meaning if I were to give you this necklace with the powers of fire, it would burn whatever part of your body it touches," he explained.
I blinked at him as he took of the necklace and placed on my shoulders.
I yelled out in agonizing pain. He laughed hysterically.
He removed it and began to laugh even more louder and annoyingly. He was about to place it back on my skin when a man wearing a Cloak pushed him to the floor violently.
I watched as the man blew out a silver potion on him and Derek burnt down on the spot.
Scared that I was about to face the same fate, I began to drag myself away from the man.
The man followed me, the more I moved away, the more he walked toward me with short quick strides. I stopped when my back hit a tree.
I was going to die. Whoever the man was, he didn't look friendly.
I closed my eyes waiting for my fate. After several seconds of nothing happening, I opened my eyes and saw the man holding out his hands to me…
I gave him my left hand that wasn't damaged by fire and he picked me up.
"Don't worry, the fight is over. My men will take care of the rest of them." He said, assuring me and something in me wants me to believe him.
"I'll take you to your pack for treatment.” He added in a friendly tone.
"Who are you?" I asked.
He glanced at me and opened his cloak and my eyes widened.
