A man who seemed to be in his late fifties was waiting outside the gate when a cab pulled up in front of the school and they alighted.
"Were you the ones that called?"
The inspector slipped out his wallet and showed his card.
"I'm Kaiwan Miller, a violent crimes detective. Thanks for your cooperation."
"Don't mention." He said and turned to her. "And you are..."
"I'm here as his assistant." She replied and Kaiwan looked around.
"The neighborhood is a little chilly."
The principal smiled as he turned to direct them towards the school.
"Why don't we talk as we take a look around?"
"Sure." He replied.
The sight of a high school warmed Zuriña's heart and she looked around to see students hanging around.
"Hey, we have to hurry if we want to use the goal post." A student said to his friends.
"Lucky me, a lost wallet. Finders keepers..."
"That's mine."
Was there really an angel of death here? She wondered. The atmosphere was totally different from what she imagined.
"You can say that our school has pretty much received every type of award given to other schools. We take care of everyone so that they don't lack anything or feel uncomfortable."
"After being in bloody places, this place feels like a temple." Kaiwan said to himself as they turned to walk into the school's building.
Some teachers were hanging around by the hallway as they were headed for the principal's office.
"Good afternoon, principal."
"You look great in those clothes today."He said and she blushed.
"Thank you."
Zuriña turned to peer into the class to see students chatting, and she remembered how she'd gotten in big trouble with Father when she'd told him she wanted to wear a school uniform.
"Hey, fix it more. Dry it and add it on the day under the eyes." A student was saying and the second guy looked at his reflection in the mirror.
"Woah... don't I look like Jungkook from BTS?"
"You look like a pig instead."
"Dude, are you serious?"
The principal walked up behind her and she turned to him.
"Many of our students are conscientious and matured so they get along well with each other which isn't very common in schools like this. Thanks to our great teachers and our bright students, I can fulfill my duties as a principal, without worries."
"That's a good thing sir." She replied.
"Shall we head over to your office now?"Kaiwan asked.
"Sure. It's not far from here."
They soon arrived at the office and Zuriña was awed to see how an office in a high school looked like.
Kaiwan walked over to the windows as she had a seat before breaking the news of the reason they'd come.
"Is that true?" The principal asked, frightened and she took out some documents from her bag before passing it to him.
"These are the recent vampires incident. According to our investigations there's a suspect who's a graduate of this school."She said and Kaiwan folded his arms as he walked over to where she was seated.
"We're planning on investigating for about a week, would that be alright?"
"A week? Is there something wrong with the school?" He asked and Zuriña guessed he was very concerned about the school.
"Oh, it's nothing like that." She replied.
"I understand. We'll cooperate as much as possible."
"We'll love to be on our way. We have to check out our apartment amidst settling in and some bunch of other stuffs." Kaiwan said and Zuriña picked up the documents and slid it into her bag before she rose up.
"The investigation won't ruin the school's reputation, right?"
"Of course not." Zuriña said
The principal seemed relieved. "Here you can see that..."
He was saying as they walked to the door when someone opened the door and walked in.
"Good afternoon. You're the detective who was coming?" Sahan asked and she gritted her teeth.
According to what the detective had told her, Sahan had been working as a school counselor for fifteen years. He had relatively outstanding crimes but the interesting part was how his plan turned out to be the fastest growing out of all the angels of death.
"We need to figure out how he's doing it." She'd told him.
"Don't make it obvious when you bump into him. Just with Lucian, he can be dangerous." Kaiwan had replied.
"What are you doing thinking about?"Sahan asked.
She was thankful he came to them himself but the principal was here. She had to attack him as soon as possible.
He leaned towards her. "By any chance, have we met somewhere before?"
"I don't think it's common to see people like me. Where would we have met?" She replied as they exchanged murderous glares for a minute before he pulled back.
"I suppose that was discourteous of me, then please take your time looking around the school...The school lunch here is delicious too. You should definitely try it." He said and turned to head out.
She watched him leave and wanted nothing more for his head to part ways with his body.
"We'll be on our way now."
"Do have a nice day."The principal said and she turned to head out, followed behind by Kaiwan.
A student bumped into her and fell to the ground as she walked out from the building.
"Are you alright?"
Kaiwan ran towards her but stopped. He must have remembered she was a vampire.
"Are you alright, Zuriña?...Of course, you'd be fine."
"Wait, detective..." Her voice trailed off as the students ran trembled and she tried to hide it but it was too late.
There was no way, the student was...
"I'm sorry."She stood and team away from the scene.
"We should follow her, right?" She turned to Kaiwan and asked.
"You're already thinking like a cop." He replied and she raced off the school.
The student stopped to walk at a couple of blocks away and Zuriña watched her struggle with herself.
"Fortunately, she hasn't done anything in particular." She said, tapping her radio earpiece.
"Let's keep an eye on her, I think she'll be the clue." Kaiwan said.
"Alright.
A couple of students who were smoking were beating up a kid when the student by passed them without a word.
"Look at this. Hasn't it been a while, Hannah. Come here for a sec." The redhead who looked like the leader said and she turned to look at them.
"What the fuck are standing around for?"
"Did you go crazy after you transferred schools?" The brunette asked and Hannah shook her head and was about leave when someone asked.
"Is your dad doing okay?"
"Hey, why are you asking about the batshit crazy dad?" The male among them asked.
"Hey, didn't I tell you guys? Her dad's the type to roll in shit for money."
She curled her fist as she hurr over to hit one of them on the stomach and sent her crashing to the trash can.
"What the fuck..." Someone asked and one of them hurried over to check the girl at the trash can.
