Then Red coughed and grinned again. “Okay, you have great pictures here. But don’t worry, Luna. Our Alpha is strong. He can take care of himself.”
Helena took her phone, and she showed our pictures to me.
“Don’t forget to send the photos to me.”
“Yes.” Helena immediately sent the pictures. Then she hugged my waist. “I’ll miss you a lot.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll come home soon. If all goes well, I will marry you in no time so that we can stay at my place.”
“Yes, though I’ll miss my mother, I want to stay with you.”
Red coughed again. “Alpha, don’t worry. I’ll guard our Luna well.”
“You may need to drink cough medicine since you cough a lot today.” I grinned, teasing Red. Then I said, “Don’t let me down again.”
“No, Alpha. I promise.”
Finally, I nodded to Helena. “Go inside. Everything will be okay, and we will be together again. Soon!”
Helena walked toward the door, but then she turned back and smiled. “I will wait for you here. Come back soon.”
I smiled too. “Go inside. I won’t leave until I know you are safe inside.”
So, Helena took a deep breath and walked into her house. Then, I went back to my villa. Red was still guarding Helena’s place for a while, then returned to my place.
“I’ll go now. Please take care of Helena.”
“Don’t worry, Alpha. I will make sure no one can hurt her anymore. Our Luna will be safe with me.”
Then I grinned. “I notice that you call Helena with Luna now.”
“Since she deserves it. I mean, not only because she forgave and defended me before you, but she opened my eyes.” Red looked elsewhere. “Before what happened today, I thought our Luna was a weak person. She couldn’t protect herself. She had the poor judgment to choose such a lousy ex-boyfriend as her man.” He took a deep breath. “But then, I realized, I also made a poor judgment about her. Though physically Luna is weak, she fiercely defended me in front of you. I can never forget that.”
“True strength lies in the heart, and Helena has a great heart.”
“Indeed. If I were Luna, I would banish myself as far as possible.” Then Red knelt again. “Since you didn’t mention it, I guessed Luna didn’t tell you. I would confess now, Alpha. I asked her to leave you because I didn’t want you to hurt again. After Lynnette’s death, it has changed you so drastically. I don’t want you to experience it again.”
I took a deep breath. Red’s words touched my heart a lot. “Afterward, Helena told me about it. She convinced me and defended you a lot that your intention was good.”
Red looked at the floor. “She is truly an exceptional one.”
“Yes.” After a while, I said, “You know, after what happened today, I realized I didn’t make a good character assessment of Lynnette too. Ernie told me that Lynnette was so mean to her and her sister.”
“Oh, what did she do?”
“From what Ernie said, Lynnette practically placed Ernie and her sister in miserable condition so she could ask her people to torture them.”
“Oh, my goodness! But why did Ernie and her sister never speak up?”
“Maybe she was afraid.”
Red rubbed his chin. “It makes sense since you were madly in love with Lynnette. You wouldn’t believe Ernie and her sister if they came to you at that time.”
“Maybe, but I’ll certainly investigate it, and I won’t take Lynnette as my mate. It’s weird, but losing her is a blessing in disguise now. I can’t imagine what our pack would be if Lynnette were still alive.”
“True.” Red smiled. “Comparing Luna Helena and Lynnette would be like comparing a diamond to mud. Our Luna is not as strikingly sexy and does not attract men’s attention as Lynnette. Still, she is truly kind and sweet.”
I grinned. “If Helena wanted it, she could be sexier than Lynnette. But I want her for myself.”
“Yeah, it’s for the best. I’m glad that the Highest One matched both of you.” Then he scratched his head. “Uh, speaking about mate ….”
“Hm?”
“Nothing.”
“Have you found your mate? Or, do you want to have some free time so you can search for your mate?
“The first one, Alpha. I have found her.”
“Oh, congratulations!”
“Thank you. My mate is Luna’s friend, Stacy. The first time I met her, I immediately knew it was her. My wolf confirmed it too. I’m sorry, Alpha.”
“For what?”
“For doubting you when you said your mate was a human. I thought you made it up since I had never heard the Highest One pair a werewolf with a human.”

“Yeah.” Then Red remembered something. “How could Lord Constantine drug Luna?”
“I have no idea. Though Helena didn’t say a lot about that night, she wasn’t suspicious that he did it. Maybe he got some accomplices in the restaurant.”
“With Lord Constantine’s wealth, it’s easy to do it.”
I nodded. “That’s why you need to keep an eye on Helena. Since once Constantine wants something, he won’t stop until he gets it.” I let out a long sigh. “This time, he wants Helena.”
“Don’t worry, Alpha. I’ll guard her with my life.”
“As long as you haven’t changed your loyalty to him, I can go in relief.”
“Alpha, I know I made a mistake. A big one. But then, I won’t stoop so low by changing my loyalty to Lord Constantine. Though he is your half-brother, he is so different from you.”
“Constantine’s hate and envy have blinded him. If he could accept the fact, he would live happily. But no, he always wants what’s mine. So, if he tries to bother Helena again, I will give him a lesson.”
“Alpha, do you want to get a new Beta? I don’t mind if you do that.”
“No. You are my best friend and my man. Who else I should trust more than you?”

“I made a huge mistake with Lynnette too. But as an Alpha, it affects all when I make a mistake. Moreover, I made a mistake because of lust. While you, because of your good heart.”

“Good!” Then I grinned as he recalled something. “Do you know why Helena and I spent a long time in my bed?”
“Because you will go?”
“Yes, it’s part of it. But there was another reason. Helena wanted to make me happy so that I won’t make you in trouble. Isn’t she so sweet?”
Red gasped. “She is truly an angel. Even if I must die to defend her, I’ll do it.”
“Hey, don’t think about death all the time. Think about life too.”
We smiled at each other. Finally, we could solve our misunderstanding.
