Iris's POV.
"What trial?"
"Oh, alpha Rupert, had contacted the council and they are bringing Alpha David to court, he filed a complaint about the illegal business Alpha David and Damien were into, sometimes ago and with the turned of events, the councils had decided to hear him out and Hilary is also part of the trial..."
I pinned my lips together as I listened to all the words of Drake.
"Will you like to attend the meeting, it's in a week?"
"Sure, I will like to and can you help me, go through the pack and see some of the things that they might be lacking, that we could put in place and the treasury, let's see what we have."
"That is true, before Hilary could get hold of it." Drake stay for some time, discussing so many things when Campbell pulled the door, I didn't know it was noon already.
"Alpha Iris, don't you think you should have something to eat, it's getting too late, and you didn't have anything all morning. You don't want the boss to chop my head off if he finds out that you are starving."
Susan walked in with some meal, and my wolf salivate, including me, I was hungry, it's seem Susan knows the right things to do, the food was tasty, and it didn't take much time before I finish the food, and the rest of the day goes bye, the only thing, I did through the day was eat and sleep.
Campbell didn't leave my sight, and Drake was been a helping hand, he was handling the administration of the pack effectively.
"Alpha Iris, you sent for me?" Campbell said as he sit before me, I am at the alpha office, trying to put a few changes to the office.
"Sure, come on in."
"Here, it's herbal medicine, you might need it."
"Who told you that, I need it?"
"The boss told me." I grabbed the soup and sip on it.
"And who is the boss?"
"You should already know, who the boss is." I shake my head, it's more than days since the war take place, I haven't seen Rupert nor talked to him but I didn't care, I too am very busy. "So what do you want to discuss with me?"
"What do you think about Drake?" He raised his eyes, looking at me.
"What do you want to know about him?"
"Come on Campbell, did you think he will be good for the position of a beta?"
"A beta?" I nodded looking at him, waiting for his reply. "A female alpha and a male beta?"
"Is it bad?"
"Nope but..." I don't seem to understand Campbell, he said it's not bad, but his eyes are saying something else.
"Why the but?"
"Don't you want to get married?" He dropped the bombshell. "yes, don't you want to have a mate, even if the moon goddess didn't give you a second chance mate, you could have a chosen mate."
"What if I don't want to?"
"You might not want to for now but your pack council will not let you, they will think that having a male Alpha beside you, will make the pack stronger and every nearby pack will be scared of you."
Campbell is right, I need one but I don't think I could bring myself to let another male wolf see my nude, if I can't have Rupert then I am better off staying alone.
"What do you think alpha Iris? If you want I and Ariana could get the list of eligible Alpha that are without mates that are also good that you could..."
"What does having alpha got to do with me wanting a beta for a male?" I didn't want him to continue with the topic of me having a mate.
"He might not like his Luna, to have a male beta going everywhere with her. Having a male beta will automatically mean that he will always be everywhere with you and he is going to be jealous, no man will want to have his woman around another."
A cunning smile slipped into my lips, as Sally pushed the idea that we could make Rupert jealous and make him show that he loves me, if he doesn't show any signs of jealousy then he doesn't love me.
"Alpha Iris, is there a problem?" Campbell's voice pulled me from my thoughts.
"Sorry, I was just thinking of something, you were saying?" He looks at me suspiciously. "Stop looking at me, give me a solution." Covering up my act, to avoid the question that Campbell might be forming in his head.
"Alright, if you insist on making him a beta is not bad, he is a good man, and he plays a big part in letting you take over the pack, now that the Goldfang pack is yours, it will not be bad to have such a person beside you to run the administration of the pack, so I am rooted for Drake as a beta."
I smiled. "Good then, I will let him know after the trial."
"I am sure, he will be happy."
"So after the trial and my alpha ceremony, will you still be here with me?"
"I don't know, it all depends on the boss, or do you want me to resign from being the delta of the Wildfang shadow pack and become yours, I could do that for you."
"You this bad boy, I could see you want your brother to go to war with my pack. You and I know that I can't win one over him." Another round of laughter goes on.
"I should leave you to rest, the trial is tomorrow, and I bet you should be thinking of the kind of punishment, you are going to give that Hilary, remember she is your culprit and she is pregnant too."
I nodded, when Campbell left, I thought of ways to punish Hilary without letting the pup get hurt.
Hilary was my friend and we were more like sisters, there is no way, I could hurt her pup, even though we didn't end up in a good way, she had hurt me and had taken sides with Damien, all of them hurt me, but I never wanted Damien to die without seeing his pup but it had happened and there is nothing I could do about it, maybe, the goddess knows best.
For the first time, I decided to mind link Rupert in weeks, I wanted to ask him what kind of punishment he thinks will befit a traitor like Hilary.
"Come on Rupert open your mindlink," I complained when I noticed his mindlink is shut.
"Let the man be, don't you know that he is an alpha now and it's tiring having everyone in the pack mind linking you when there is trouble."
"So does it mean after my alpha ceremony, the mindlink will be open to everyone?" I asked Sally.
"Of cause, you have to protect all of them and hear their complain." I go mute, thinking if I could make a good alpha.
"Stop thinking, you should pick what to wear, remember tomorrow, we will be meeting different alphas, that will come for the council, so you need to look super hot for them."
"Do you think Rupert will be there?"
