Iris's POV.
"What?" Drake yelled, I understand him, he knows that I don't like the idea of meeting a male that I don't have an interest in but what can I do, if Rupert can't be mine, I should as well entertain other suitors.
"Yes, I want to." I finally reply to him, when his stare becomes stronger.
"What happened to Rupert?" I wipe my tears and look at him. "Come on alpha Iris, I know everything, seeing him appearing at the secret passage and helping you to win over the pack, fighting side by side with you, I know you two share something stronger, you are not just some she-wolves that appear in his pack to look for solace, you were a bigger part of his life and I think your present in his life was what break his curse, everyone sees him as a beast back then, no one will want him but now, he is that strong handsome alpha that every she-wolf wanted but he wants you..."
"Stop being delusional, Rupert doesn't want me." He smirked, picking up some of the files I have thrown to the floor.
"That act of him last night, is one of a jealous lover, did you think I didn't smell his arousal and his scent on you when you get off his car last night?" Now it's my turn to stare at him. "Yes, you too are attracted to each other."
"But he is getting his Luna ceremony in a week." I throw the invitation that is on the table for him. He too looks at me, I stand from my chair. "It's not a big deal, just let the council know, that I am ready. " Before Drake could say anything else, I took to my heels and left him in the office.
This is my fate, life will always treat me this way, if there is one thing I could change in this life of mine, is not to be the only daughter of an alpha and heir to the throne.
But it's too late now, I will have to face it all and dance to the tone of the council, if I don't, it's like acting like a ruthless alpha.
It's been two days since I have the conversation with my beta, I couldn't even wrap my head around everything that is going on with me, preparing for the alpha ceremony and also planning to meet my chosen mate.
I know today is the day, in a few minutes, I will meet one of the listed alpha, I braided my hair and wore a lovely gown, as I walked into the hallway, I saw my beta coming in, he is looking handsome, I could hear some omega talking about his handsomeness, I smiled, I know every she-wolf love handsome male wolves, especially the unmated ones.
"Good morning alpha Iris." He smiled at me, we are becoming close, he is more like a big brother to me than just a beta, if he wasn't beside me, I don't think I could be able to do anything.
"Good morning beta Drake." My face wasn't excited.
"Is there any problem? If you are not ready to meet alpha Zane from the Red Moon pack, you could..."
"No, I will meet him, I want to meet him." I struggle to speak, Sally had been acting cold since I decided to attend to other suitors, she felt we should have a heart talk with Rupert, instead of just accepting the words from that Celina of a lady but I don't think it's necessary, I don't want to be like Hilary that knows that I am Damien's mate but she still went ahead and seduce my man.
"It's fine then, Alpha Zane, will be arriving in the late afternoon." I frown
"You don't have anything to worry about, he is not an old male wolf, he is twenty-two, he is a strong well know wealthy alpha and he is also a businessman, although he is not as wealthy as Alpha Rupert from Wildfang Shadow pack." He tries to explain while reading the profile of the man.
"It's fine, I will meet him."
"Okay, I will get the guards ready to be on standby..."
"No, I could handle myself let me meet him alone."
"What? It might be risky, let me at least go with you."
"Come on beta Drake, I could do it on my own." He finally nodded, I know he doesn't want to. He has nothing to worry about, I am all grown up, if I could survive Alpha David's brutality outside my pack then I could survive the brutality of any male here in my pack.
The afternoon came so fast and it was finally time to meet the alpha from the Red Moon pack. He was sitting elegantly on the couch in my waiting room when I walked toward him, he is handsome and breathtaking.
"Alpha Zane, nice to meet you." I stretch my hand to him.
"Nice to meet you, the beauty alpha Iris." He said taking my hand in his. "I never knew the moon goddess is in a she-wolf form." I tittered at his words.
"Stop flattering me." He pulled my hands to his lips.
"You should know me, I don't say things that are false."
"Hmm! Let's take a walk while you tell me, about the honest man." I said, giving him a tour around the garden, he speak highly of himself, how he conquer so many smaller packs, and how powerful his pack his and his business and wealth is something immeasurable. At first, I found it exciting especially when he mentioned that he had been in the human world for long, I was interested and I thought that he could be that one man that could take me to the world and go on an adventure with him while we hold hand and walked the world together. But slowly it becomes boring and I lost interest in whatever he had to say.
Everything was about himself, he didn't care to ask what I wanted, my likes and dislikes, my interest or should I say my opinion is as good as nothing, and when I try to comment on anything he say, he just shut me up bringing another topic. When having dinner, that was the last straw that break the camel's back. He switch to politics and how he could change the name of my pack to something more appealing and teach my pack members other cultures different from the ones they know all their life. It was finally time for him to leave.
"It's my pleasure spending the late evening with you, I hope next time, we meet again, we will be merging our packs" he takes my hand in his and place kisses on my knuckles.
"And who told this idiot I was going to merge my pack with his?" I speak mentally.
Immediately, he left I went back to my office, and beta Drake walked in, looking at me.
"Is it a yes? Is he going to be the next Alpha?" Drake asked.
