REBECCA BLAKE
We remain silent, watching Hayley and Aiden disappear among the trees of the forest.
— Difficult temperament. — Claimed Jackson, putting his hands on the jacket and narrowing his eyes slightly.
Hayley’s attitude had awakened something in him.
— Indeed, they are pure. — He completed with a strange satisfaction in his words.
— I apologize for Hayley’s behavior, supreme, she’s been a little...stressed lately, I believe it’s the lack of a companion. — Peter said trying to justify himself and my chin went down.
No, he didn’t have that kind of nerve.
— Try to understand your side, Hayley is still a rebellious and lonely wolf. — It was Melissa’s turn to talk, trying to ease the tension between us.
I made a grimace of disgust.
— Oh by the moon, that’s ridiculous! — exclaimed Dylan, outraged and visibly angry at his parents' behavior.
— Stop referring to Hayley as a dog that needs training. — Hayley has every reason to not trust any of you.
— It was my turn to tell Peter and Melissa, mostly. — And you’re right to react aggressively after everything you’ve done to her.
— Don’t tell me you were expecting her to greet you with flowers and hugs? — I let out a low laugh.
The looked that the Alpha directed at us both made a shiver run down my spine.
— From what I see, the wolf is not the only one with behavior problems. — He declared cold and indifferent.
I heard the growl of my wolf ring in my mind. I held my head high.
— No werewolf has good behavior, Supreme. — I tried to sound as respectful as possible, didn’t want confusion with him or his wolves.
Dylan looked at the Supreme, right after his beta and the rest of the wolves, twisting his nose then
— You don’t deserve it. None of you are worthy of Hayley. My sister deserves much more.
I saw the surprised look Clary sent him, probably not expecting that reaction from Dylan, who seemed not to mind the scolding glances of the surrounding wolves, just put his hands in his pocket and raised his head as he walked back home, whistling.
I arched my eyebrows when Clary followed him. Peter and Melissa looked at each other and I rolled my eyes.
"What did you expect? That Hayley would act like a trained bitch and
accept everything in a good way? Of course not, she’s one of mine!"
For a brief moment, I let out a faint laugh of my wolf’s comment. In fact, my sister— in— law was not the kind of female who lowered her head and accepted everything she was told, this was one of the reasons for my admiration for her.
— Rumors do not lie. — Commented the beta looking at the scratch on the arm, blood flowed from the wound. — She is really a savage!
— Rebecca can make a tea to speed healing— I looked confused at Peter. — The injuries caused by Hayley take time to heal.
"We must let him suffer!"
It’s a delightfully tempting idea, but we’re not like that.
"You’re not like that, don’t include me in this."
— I would be very grateful. — Smiled nice to me, I was not able to return it.
— Let’s go in, you must be tired from the long journey. — Peter said after a quiet time.
Everyone agreed and we headed home.
— Why is there a fox among you? — Asked the beta, and Clary stared.
— My village was attacked by wolves behind Hayley and Aiden— spoke her. — They murdered my people, I was the only one who survived, thanks to them who helped me.
— Why? — Asked the Supreme sitting on the couch, without waiting for an invitation.
He had a rigid and serious posture, while his eyes showed danger and power, nothing went unnoticed by him.
— You’re not the only ones after them. Rumors are spreading and there are many wolves out to kill you, to steal your powers. — Explained Peter.
— They are in danger, especially Hayley, who is a female and single. She is more vulnerable.
I had to clasp my lips before Peter’s speech.
What the hell happened to him? Since when were you such an asshole?
"Is she vulnerable to being a female and single? Peter!"
I believe my dear Hayley would slit the throat of anyone who refers to her as vulnerable and helpless for being single. — Murmured Dylan, and I agreed with him. — She’s totally capable of defending herself. You know? She’s dominant! I told Jackson, he raised an eyebrow, but he remained indifferent.
Peter scolded him with his gaze for thinking Dylan was disrespecting the Supreme Court, but neither seemed to care.
I saw that Clary smiled sideways at Dylan’s comment, and I narrowed my eyes at those two.
— She likes to stay days in the transformed forest. — Revealed Melissa with a small smile on her face. — It had been two months since I was in the forest, I think that’s why they found her. Your wolf is...special!
— This is common in Pure. — Said the beta.
We heard a loud noise coming from upstairs, as if someone had fallen and everyone was on alert.
Son of a bitch! I heard my sister— in— law’s voice. I’m going to kill you.
— It’s Hayley and Aiden. — Peter explained quickly, trying to calm them down.
After a few minutes, we heard heavy footsteps and exalted voices in the hallway.
— Do not curse our mother. Replied my companion, outraged. — May she rest in peace with the moon.
I’m going to hit you in the nose, asshole.
The Supreme Court raised an eyebrow, I imagined that a language or a rude behavior like Hayley was not common among the females of his pack.
— There are times when I think you’re more wolf than human— said Aiden with mockery. — The savagery lives in you, Arabella. — Mocked down the stairs.
— The dirty, talking about the badly washed. — She replied and looked at the room, closing her face quickly.
Only three wolves had entered with Jackson, the others must have been visiting the village.
— You should be more feminine, Hayley. — Dylan provoked her, and she narrowed her eyes towards him. — You’ll end up pushing the suitors away.
My sister— in— law opened a sly smile and winked at Dylan.
— That’s the intention. — She declared it low, but it was enough for everyone to hear, and Dylan didn’t hide a low laugh from her comment.
— Hayley is more macho than you are, Dylan. — I laughed, pulling a laugh out of my brother— in— law and Dylan. Aiden squeezed his lips not to laugh.
— I have no doubt about that. Replied Dylan smiling.
The Supreme scratched his throat, drawing attention.
— You treat them like your blood family. — Jackson said, breaking the silence, putting one leg over the other and facing Hayley from top to bottom, who returned the same sharp look. — Your pack.
— Why would you treat them differently? They who saved us, when you and your family abandoned us to die. — Attacked acid. — They are my family. Not the Labonair and certainly not you!
— Hayley, please. — Peter tried to scold her, but Jackson signaled that he shut up.
— We thought they were dead. — He defended himself, and she let out a bitter laugh.
— They didn’t come back to be sure, they gave up on us. So don’t come to my house and try to justify your mistakes. — Grunted, and the Alpha’s eyes turned red.
Hayley backed down, headed for the kitchen.
— Where are you going? — Aiden asked, frowning.
Why don’t you put a leash on the dog, so she doesn’t run away? He turned abruptly, his eyes were bright oranges and his breathing accelerated.
— Hayley...
— Leave me alone, Aiden. — Roared, but that wasn’t your voice. His dominance escaped, causing me an unbearable pain, grunting putting his hands on the head that throbbed, as if it would explode at any time.
She widened her eyes and blinked a few times, returning to normal.
— Shit! — Cursed, nervous. — Get up, Rebecca— said in a calmer voice.
— I can’t. I whispered feeling my head hurt, I was forced to bow before her, my wolf whimpered at her dominance.
— I don’t know what to do. — She said frightened, and I could see the look of the Supreme fall on me as her eyes shone.
— Get up! — Brandished his voice covered with dominance and I trembled, never felt so much dominance.
I stood up carefully and my body weakened, I would have gone to the ground if Aiden had not held me. I saw my companion stiffen, his wild side reacting to see me weakened.
— You need to control yourself. — growled Aiden between teeth, scolding his sister.
— Do you think I wanted to cause this pain in Rebecca, Aiden? — She asked offended. It’s not my fault that this is getting out of control.
— If I can control myself, why can’t you? — hissed, angry.
— Because she doesn’t have a companion. — Said the Alpha, meddling in that confrontation.
Hayley snorted through his nose, rolling his eyes.
— What does this have to do? — Aiden asked, frowning.
— Her strength is growing within her wolf. She would need to share her power, her dominance, with her partner. — explained looking at Hayley who stared back.
