The last pure she-wolf Chapter 5

Everything would be different if we could avoid that stupid rebellion. Aiden laughed lightly, a bitter, spiteful smile. You were too small, didn’t understand what was happening.

— I knew our pack was being attacked, and the wolves were being killed. I replied petulantly. I miss our parents, I wish they were alive. — My shoulders weighed.

— I know how you feel. — Your voice was just a whisper.

— I feel without exit, I don’t know what to do. If I tried to take over my Alpha post, I would kill before even trying. I don’t care about me, but if Is they found out I was alive, they’d come after you.

— Then they would all hunt us. — He agreed. — They would try to kill us, our family doesn’t deserve to go through this, none of them.

— We would have no more peace. It’s not like we have that.

— We would not have the freedom to transform ourselves as we have today, without drawing attention.

Your words caused pain in me and my wolf, because Aiden was right, to our total displeasure.

Time passed quickly as Aiden updated me on what had happened during the time I spent transformed into forest. All this lasted little, so we heard Dylan’s voice in call.

— What happened? — I asked, confused by her irritation, but anxiety at the same time.

The fox woke up.

It was the only thing I heard before I ran out towards mine home, she was awake, and we’ll finally find out what happened.

I walked like lightning into the room, scaring the women who were there, I received a curse from Rebecca, but only me approached Kitsune. She was confused, but I saw the wonder and desolation in her blue eyes. Her blonde hair was messy and dirty, she needed an urgent shower.

"She witnessed the slaughter of her own people, we must not forget thereof."

— Who are you? — Asked in a whisper, resentful of my presence.

She was attacked by wolves, of course she wouldn’t trust one of those form so early.

— My name is Hayley Blake, and this is my brother, Aiden. — I pointed to the wolf beside me, his forehead was slightly furrowed and his posture rigid.

He was extremely suspicious when it came to ours security.

Kitsune gasped in surprise, her eyes widened, but she swallowed dry.

— It was you who saved me— she said softly. — Thank you. — Whispered, lowering his gaze, didn’t trust us, and I understood in his hesitation.

— Could you tell us what happened? — I asked in a calm tone, me slowly approaching and stopping beside the bed. The Kitsune shrunk with my approach and I stopped in place, would not overstep.

It wouldn’t scare you anymore after what you’ve experienced.

She stopped to think for a few seconds, but let out a long sigh.

— We were attacked by wolves. — His voice sounded hoarse, his eyes were empty and swollen because of crying. — They were looking for two brothers.

His words made my body freeze and my stomach turn.

— How? — I asked, hoarse. — How were these brothers you were looking for? — I asked, trying to stay calm.

My heart seemed to jump out of my chest at any moment.

— They were two brothers who had something that belonged to them, they did not explain right. — Continued with frown. — These brothers

They had a mark on the back of their head, a way to identify them.

I was petrified in place, didn’t know how to react or breathe correctly at that time.

I looked at Aiden who was unresponsive like me, just the sound of our beating hearts were heard in that place.

They knew we were alive, and they were hunting us again.

I squeezed my hands tight, nailing my nails into mine skin.

— What happened next? — Aiden asked, visibly tense.

— None of us had seen anyone with that mark, but that’s not seemed to make no difference— lowered his gaze. — They attacked us and began to kill my people without mercy. We were not able to protect. — A tear ran down her face, she closed her eyes as if he wanted to push the memories out of his mind.

"Memories are the worst part."

— They hurt me till they knocked me unconscious, thought I was dead, and fled. After a few hours, you appeared and saved my life.

All your dead were murdered because of me, innocent creatures were killed without mercy.

I clenched my teeth hard to control my emotions and swallowed the knot in my throat. I couldn’t succumb.

— Did they say what they called the brothers? — I asked, feeling my hands sound and my legs become shaky.

— Arabella and Aiden Labonair.

I closed my eyes, cursing mentally. After months living in peace, we had been found again.

That would be a big problem.

"No matter who comes after us, we will kill them without mercy. No, We’ll be captured, never!"

— I don’t believe it!

— Shit.

— What happened? — Asked Kitsune and I rubbed my forehead, trying to think of something. I rubbed my face, feeling my head tie a knot.

"She deserves to know the truth, after all she’s been through for us."

— I will tell you something, but you must promise that you will never tell anyone what I am, trusting you. — Asked apprehensively, and she frowned.

— I have no one to tell. — I could see the anger in your tone of voice, accompanied by sorrow and pain. — My family was killed, forgot?

I took a deep breath, trembling, and turned around, my back to her. I took the cold blouse that covered me and put my hair aside, showing my mark, hearing her gasp and her heart racing.

I looked back at the fox with his mouth open and eyes wide— eyed, incredulous with what he had seen.

— You are the brothers they were looking for. — She whispered without believing, stuttering and, I nodded, putting the blouse back on.

— Unfortunately. — Sighed, passing his hand on my face. — And now? Is found. Let’s run away again? — I asked, looking at Aiden, who tried to think of some solution, was clear in its face embarrassed. Or stay and fight?

— I’m tired of running. — He said hard, stroking the hair of Becca, who had hugged him at the waist, worried.

— Why are they after you? What is so special about you make them kill an entire village of innocent Kitsunes? — asked the curious blonde, and I wanted to laugh.

The whole thing was pathetic.

— My brother and I are the last Pure left of our pack, and I believe of all the packs. They want to kill us for ambition, our abilities. After murdering our parents, we were forced to flee, our own people hunt us.

I let out a bitter laugh.

— Are you referring to the Labonair lineage? I thought you were all extinct. — Commented, turning his head to the side, confused. — You are considered royalty among the species.

— The entire bloodline was killed, but as Hayley said, we’re the last survivors. We’ve been living in secret for years, but it seems they found out about us. Aiden said.

— Our fathers led the Crescents before they were killed. — I revealed.

She was surprised, but nodded.

— I’m sorry for what happened to your family, would have done something to avoid if we know we’re being hunted again.
