“I'm doing this for their safety. Stop teasing me, or else I will not pay you!” Wade frustratedly defended himself. He massaged his temple when his private investigator laughed at him. Why was he laughing at him? Does he think that he was bluffing or what?
“I know you can pay me enough, but I'm not making fun of you. Wade, I know that you are doing this for their safety.” The man cleared his throat when he spoke those words.
Wade felt more embarrassed; of course, he wasn't dumb for not knowing that his private investigator was trying to tease him. And he was sure that his private investigator denied his allegation but secretly hid his opinion toward him.
Wade never thought that he would feel more ashamed. He was known as one of the best business people in society. And he was always respected and adored by his friends, except Leo.
“If I were you, I would be more proud of my woman. Did you know that some women didn't like it whenever the man pursuing them denied their relationship? What would happen if Ms. Fontaine discovers that you are ashamed to let me know that you are trying to do everything for her safety? If I am Ms. Fontaine, I won't waste time with a man who isn't too proud to have me.” The man said, which made Wade's forehead crease when he heard those words.
He was astounded because he didn't even know about it. Of course, he was too proud to have Jane in his life, but he didn't want someone that he learned to make fun of him. Wade was more confused, and he was scared that Jane might find out about it.
“Are you telling me the truth? I don't think so.” Wade tried to hide his curiosity, but he failed since he knew the man he had been talking with since they were a child. He faked his cough and took something from his wallet.
Wade pursed his lips when he saw Jane's picture that he had from the very beginning. He had this picture since he was studying because Leo gave it to him. Leo tries to make him have a blind date with his cousin, Jane, but Jane refuses his offer.
Wade was hurt then; he didn't understand why Jane didn't like to be with him. He was a great catch, and a blind date wasn't too serious. Leo was trying to act like cupid even though he didn't have the talent to be a matchmaker.
He still remembered how he met Jane at Leo's company. She was too cold, and she didn't even take a glimpse of him. It looked like he was an air that didn't exist in her eyes. Wade didn't like it; Jane didn't even bother to know him when he purposely bumped into her.
One night, he was with Leo when Jane called Leo. Wade couldn't hide his excitement towards Jane, so he asked Leo if he wanted to go with him to an upscale bar, and that was the best move he had ever made.
Wade couldn't understand himself anymore because he was used to being loved by anyone, but Jane was different. Jane still had feelings for Daniel, and he didn't like the idea.
“I thought you loved playing with women, and you didn't know about it? It looks like Jane was too different from your other girls.”
“Silly! Please don't be ridiculous, of course; she is far different. Jane is the best woman I have ever known. She is too cool, and even though she is sleeping without her makeup over her face, she is still stunning.” Wade exaggeratedly described everything. In his eyes, Jane was the most beautiful and perfect woman he had ever seen.
“You sound like you're in love with someone. Didn't you ever think that you fell for her without you noticing it? Ms. Fontaine is beautiful, which is why I don't understand Daniel chose a brat over Ms. Fontaine.” Wade scowled when he remembered Daniel again and again.
”Since you opened up about Daniel More, I want to know more about him. His family knew about Jane's identity, so there was a big chance that they would ask the Fontaine family to have a wedding arrangement. You know how thirsty they are when it comes to power.” Wade felt disgusted and smacked his forehead.
“I discovered that Daniel More kicked his fiancé into their huge house. His mother liked Christy for her son, and she suddenly changed. I do think that this is connected to your girlfriend.”
“She's not my girlfriend!” Wade exclaimed, and he felt humiliated when the man laughed so loudly. He didn't understand why the man laughed so hard, was it because he didn't have a chance to be with Jane?
“Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I think that you finally had your chance to meet your long-time crush. I still remember when you first asked me about her, so I know that you have good plans for her. You are planning to marry her?”
“Hey! This is my issue, and I don't want to spill some information on you. You liked gossiping about my private matters! Are you a woman?”
”You constantly change the topic whenever you are shy about something. I am still your friend, and you are lucky that I am giving you some discounts.”
“I can pay for it even though you won't give me some discounts.”
“Yeah, right. Talk to my hands, fucker. Oh shit! My girlfriend kept calling me, and I needed to answer this call. Gotcha, bye!” Wade was about to react when the man dropped his call. He couldn't believe that someone had dropped the ring without his permission.
“Shit! This mother fucker.” Wade cursed, and he was hoping that his friend's face was with him. He wanted to punch him several times. He was about to leave when he saw Erin was coming to the hospital; he gnashed his teeth because he thought that Erin must be planning behind their back.
He looked at his phone and messaged Jane about it. Wade concluded that Storm had plans with his cousin, Erin. It seems like Erin was so obsessive when it came to Leo.
Jane was looking at the laptop while she was checking Blossom. Leo told her that she needed to secure Blossom's safety after they found out that someone was trying to kill her.
She watched Blossom flip the page of the book that she was reading. She sighed when she felt her phone vibrate, and Wade sent her a message. Jane couldn't stop herself but exasperatedly sighed when she found out that it was Wade. She thought Wade was trying his luck again to make her agree to his offer.
Jane thought she wasn't stupid to grab his offer, but something in her other part told her that she should seize the opportunity to learn more. She lazily took her phone, and when she opened the messages, her eyes widened.
Wade informed her that Erin was in the hospital. Does it mean that Wade was secretly peeking at them? Her heart slowly melted when she saw how Wade made some effort toward her.
Jane didn't know what to do next since Leo had left the room because he was calling someone. Jane panicked and quickly stood up. Does it mean that Leo secretly saw Erin behind his wife's back? Jane clenched her hands and secretly cursed Leo.
She took her phone and asked Wade if he had seen Leo go out to the hospital. Wade informed her that he would follow Erin so he would know whatever their plan was.
“Jane, are you alright?” Blossom asked when she saw how Jane looked. She glimpsed at the book and continued reading it. Blossom didn't see how Jane tried to compose her composure about what she learned from Wade.
“Ms. Blossom, if Erin went here in the hospital. Did you think that she would visit you once you are alone here?” Jane inquired. She wanted to know since Blossom knew about Erin, so she was used to her actions.
“What's the matter? I want to know what is happening, so I will answer your question?” Blossom stubbornly informed Jane. She put the book beside her and gave Jane an assuring smile. When Jane didn't even answer, Blossom concluded that maybe, Jane found out that Erin was in the hospital.
“Well, you didn't have any plans to tell me. So, I think she might be going into my room once she finds out that I am alone. Erin had a lot of connections, and maybe she knew I was pregnant with Leo's child.” Blossom answered. She bit her lips to prevent herself from showing that she was anxious if Erin being in the hospital. She knew Erin had something in her sleeves, so she needed to be more careful.
“Okay, so she might be planning to give you an emotional breakdown because she wanted you to lose your child.” Jane dared to tell her what was happening, which made Blossom gasp in fear.
“You don't need to worry because I will do anything to make you safe. I will call Mr. Fontaine now, so I need to know where he is.” Jane took her phone and went out of the room. She noticed that there was a woman who was secretly peeking into Blossom's room. Jane clenched her teeth when she noticed that it was Erin, and she said that Leo was too busy taking the calls that he didn't even see Erin hiding.
Jane acted nicely, and she ran towards the back part of the building so she could go to the bathroom without Blossom and Erin noticing it. She calculated everything, and she was panting when she saw how high the building was.
“Jane! What are you doing? Shit!” Wade screamed in fear when he noticed Jane secretly walking outside despite the building being too high. It looked like she wasn't scared, but Wade panicked; he took his phone and dialed Jane.
When Jane reached the part of the bathroom, she was forced to open the tiny window. Her heart was beating so fast that if she did something wrong, she would fall from the building.
She took her phone when it vibrated. She answered Wade's call.
“Hey! Stop disturbing me. I am too busy, and I need to go to Blossom's room.” Jane irritatedly said, which made Wade get madder.
“Did you forget that there is a door? Jane Fontaine, once you fall from the building, I will fuck your corpse repeatedly!” Wade hissed, and he was panting. He walked inside the hospital and took an elevator.
“I am thankful that I didn't die. I don't want you to fuck my dead body. It's disgusting.” Wade's heart shattered when he heard Jane scream as if she was falling from the building. He didn't remember that he had felt scared for his whole life, but hearing her scream made him jump with her.
“Shit! No way! Jane Fontaine!” Wade felt that the world was spinning too slowly, and he was cursing when he heard a gasp. He thought that the elevator was too slow.
Blossom was reading the book when she heard the loud knocking. She glanced at the bathroom before she saw Erin coming inside her room. She felt her phone vibrate, so did it mean that Jane had successfully entered the bathroom?
“Oh, it looks like you are alone here, Blossom. How is your day?” Erin smiled innocently. She turned around, and she noticed that Blossom was alone.
“What are you doing here?” Blossom asked and tried to have some confidence.
“Well, I want to visit my future baby here. You know, once you give birth to your child, I will act as their mother, right?” Erinevillyy laughed, sat at the chair, and took Blossom's book.
“Blossom, I am thankful that you are pregnant now. Leo was mad at me when I told him that I didn't like to have a baby for now.”
