Chapter 16
***LOGAN***
The entire pack was gathered in the pack square and everyone was either waiting in anticipation as the council decided on Alvina's fate or gossiping with each other.
"It has never happened, it is unheard of and totally unforgivable," Elder Riganald said, sounding frantic.
"And she refused to tell us who the man is, she's still being so stubborn. It's high treason and she deserves to be punished accordingly," Riganald completely. He and Jakob have always clashed as far as I could remember so he was probably saying this to get at Jakob.
The punishment for High treason was death by hanging and if I was as angry as I was yesterday, I would very much like that.
I looked at my mom, she was Jakob's friend so I wanted to know what she wanted to say about this.
"I'm sorry, but she hurt Logan, and as a mother, I wish to see her get punished accordingly," my mom said and I felt a bit satisfied. I thought she would try to cool things down because of her relationship with Jakob. I saw that she avoided Jakob's gaze.
My father cleared his throat and everyone looked at him.
"What Alvina has done is terribly wrong and completely unacceptable and unforgivable," he said and I thought he also wanted Alvina to be killed by hanging.
"But we also have to consider that she's the daughter of an Elder in the council who has been very loyal," he said to my disappointment.
"We should consider all the good work Jakob has done in the pack and reduce her sentence, we can banish her instead of killing her," he added.
The Elders and members of the council respected him so they valued his opinion. When it was finally time to vote, I knew what the outcome would be.
Most of the council voted to have her banished with the exception of a few people like Riganald and my mom. It was up to me to approve the Council's voting.
"I want to question her one last time," I said and they all watched as I stood up and went to stand in front of the box where Alvina was placed, chained to a metal pole.
"Why did you do it?" I asked her and she walked closer till the only thing stopping her was the wooden wall of the box.
"Because I wanted to," she said, with the chains binding her clanking loudly.
"I was going to leave the past behind and move on, and I thought you'd do the same too," she continued and I stared at her in confusion, having no clue about what she was saying.
"What??"
"You think I didn't notice how you were so madly obsessed with her over these past few months?" She asked and I still didn't understand.
"You were always disturbed and I knew it was because you were so desperate to find that traitor's daughter!" She yelled loudly and loud murmurs erupted around the Pack square, "I knew it. I knew all of it, and how you burned to see her again every day!"
I took a step back and looked around as I realized what she was saying.
"Before we became mates, I knew you were in love with that traitor's daughter, that scum of a thing!" She continued and I clenched my fists subconsciously, suppressing the anger in me.
"I thought you were going to forget about her and we'd be happy together, so when you didn't, you don't expect me to forsake someone I loved too?" She continued.
So she was in love with someone before we were mated? She had been deceiving me for so long???
Everyone was shocked to hear that I was involved with Larissa including my father who looked so disappointed and my mom who looked so shocked.
I walked back to the spot for the council members and me while trying to avoid their accusing gazes.
I wanted Alvina to be killed right now on the spot and I wanted to reject the council's vote. But right now was not the right time to go against them so I had no choice.
"She will be banished from the pack never to return."

PRESENTLY
I changed my position on my bed for the one thousandth time tonight. I couldn't sleep or even close my eyes. There were so many things bothering me and so many reopened memories.
I almost lost my father because of a Physician who used an untested treatment method on my father. I learned that my cousin and best friend betrayed me and had been lying to me for so many years.
And now I couldn't stop thinking about all the moments I had with Larissa before that day on my coronation that was the origin of all my troubles. Maybe if I didn't betray Larissa's trust, things would have turned out differently and he would be so much better.
Since Alvina's punishment was banishment, Derek's punishment should be the same. But no, I'm not going to send him away so he can continue to be with Alvina. If I can't kill him, then I won't sentence him.
I would make sure he spends the rest of his life rotting in a cell.
I jerked up from my bed as I heard a loud and quick knock on my door. It was so late in the night so I knew it had to be important.
I pushed my cover cloth aside and climbed down, going to open the door.
It was a guard stationed at the dungeon.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"It's the Beta, he has escaped from the cell," the guard said and I exclaimed, "What?!"
"How did that happen?!"
"He opened the lock of the cell and attacked us before running away," the guard said and that was when I noticed the blood on his face.
"He had a key," I said and I immediately closed the door, running out to the back of the pack. I ran on foot, dashing through the forest path as fast as I could.
I saw Derek's wolf run out of the border and continued to disappear into the trees.
"Run and make sure you never come back or I'll make sure I'll kill you!" I screamed out into the darkness.
