My Rejected Mate And Our Secret Triplets Chapter 22

Chapter 22

***LARISSA***

I looked down and gulped nervously.

I slowly increased the length of the rope, climbing down slowly, one foot after the other.

I soon passed by the second floor and I continued going. I suddenly stopped as I noticed my dress. The silver belt in the dress was shimmering in the dark and it would draw attention to this place.

I let go of the rope with one of my hands and used it to slowly untie the belt.

I was about to put the belt in my pocket, but I forgot the dress I was in didn't have one, so the belt slipped out of my hand and slowly fell to the ground.

"Did you see that?" I heard a man's voice say from the first floor and I gasped lightly.

"No, what is it?" Someone else replied and I looked down to see someone stick his head out of the window on the second floor. I froze in place, solemnly praying that he wouldn't look up.

I looked all the way down and saw that the belt had fallen in some small flower bushes and only parts of it were visible.

"Oh, I think it's a glowing insect," he said and his head soon disappeared into the room.

I sighed in relief, letting out the breath I didn't realize I was holding.

I continued climbing down slowly and I stopped just above the window of the second floor. There were people in the room, and someone saw the belt so how would I get past it without being spotted?

It was not possible. I stood on top of the window edge and looked down. I was closer to the ground now.

I looked up and cut the rope I was holding. Folding up the remaining piece and slipping it into my dress at the chest.

I would be able to jump this and run away as fast as I can.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before jumping down. I grunted as I landed on my hands.

"What was that?" I heard someone on the second floor say and I quickly stood up moving away from directly below the window and hiding by the wall.

I looked up and saw two men sticking their heads out of the window and looking out.

As they returned to the room, I immediately began to run in the direction of the wall I saw earlier.

It wasn't far again. I would soon get there, I thought.

I looked up at the moon in the sky to see how much time I had left. The moon was a waxing gibbous so it would soon be a full moon and I had to find a new pack before then or I would go Rogue.

I was looking up and didn't see where I was going till I collided with a wall.

Except that it wasn't a wall.

I fell on my buttocks and looked up to see a six feet man towering over me with a murderous look in his eye.

I dropped my hand immediately Logan turned around to face me.

I couldn't decipher how he was feeling by the look on his face, but he heaved a heavy sigh.

"Let's go," he said, walking past me and directing me to his dad's room.

As I got in, I went to examine his dad who was lying on the bed.

Logan sat on a couch as I carried out all the examinations I needed to carry out.

It was going to take a while and a lot of hard work and carefulness, but I could help him get better.

I closed up the toolkit the Pack's Physician left for me and dropped it on the table.

"So?" Logan asked.

"I can help him get better," I said and he sighed in relief.

"But I'll need an assistant so your Physician will have to assist me," I said.

"He'll do whatever you want him to," he assured me.

"Good, 'cause he'll need to get something for me from the human world so I can start treatment tomorrow," I said and I walked out of the room.

"The cooks have prepared breakfast," Logan said as he walked up to me from behind.

"It's in the dining room," he said as he caught up to me and pointed in the direction of the dining room.

I stopped walking and shook my head. There was no way I was eating in the same room with Logan.

It was almost noon though and I had not eaten so I followed him to the dining room.

There were several dishes on the round dining table. I looked around the dining room, it was just like how I remembered it.

The picture of Logan's grandmother holding a half-eaten strawberry hung on the wall. The silver armor was by the corner of the room. And even a bulb on the chandelier was damaged.

It hadn't been repaired. The only thing different was the new curtains at the window.

Before I could grab my sit, Logan grabbed my chair and pulled it back for me to sit.

I glanced at him in surprise and he simply smiled. Ignoring the gesture, I sat down and adjusted the seat.

A cook walked towards us and I watched as she dished out Logan's food. Seeing that brought back memories of how Logan and his family would sit here at the table while I served them.

His mom especially would yell at me and call me names when I make the slightest mistake. It was worse when Alvina joined them at the table.

She would try to mock and humiliate me. I gulped and realized that tears were about to fill my eyes. I quickly blinked back the tears and stood up.

I can't do this.

"Please bring my food to my room, I'll like to eat it there," I said and I walked out of the dining room before Logan got the chance to say anything.
