Chapter 56
***DEREK***
TWO WEEKS AGO.
I waited and thought he'd pass by but he stopped walking as he got directly under the tree I was on.
Why did he stop? I hissed silently in irritation. I looked down closely and saw that he was sniffing the air. What the hell was he doing?
I tried sniffing the air too and though my senses were almost gone, my nostrils caught the smell of blood.
I remembered I got hit on my shoulder and there was still blood. Shit.
All of a sudden, the man whipped his head up and our eyes met at the same time. Before he could react, I jumped down from the tree with a low growl and I landed on him, my legs on his shoulder.
I wrapped my legs around his neck and tried to snap it, but he raised his hand to hit me in the side. I cried in pain and fell off him, landing on the ground.
I felt the peaches crush under my weight and I groaned. I turned my head around and saw that the Rogue wanted to kick me.
Before he could, I rolled out of the way. His legs missed me and I saw a quick opening of weakness as he almost lost his balance.
I swirled my left leg on the ground and it hit his legs causing him to fall to the floor flat.
His face would have smacked the ground, but he used his palms to cushion the floor.
The two of us got off the floor at the same time and we both charged at each other. I threw a heavy punch in his face and his face forcefully bent the other way as blood spurted out of his mouth.
I wanted to throw a punch in the other side of his face, but he swiftly grabbed my fist and twisted it. I groaned and tried to hit him with my other fist, but he grabbed it with his other hand.
The two of us looked at each other and at the same time, we threw our heads forward. Our foreheads hit each other with force and I groaned as the force pushed me, throwing me off my feet and slamming me into a tree.
He got slammed to the floor too from the force. I groaned as I attempted to sit up against the tree. I could feel that something was broken in my back and it hurt so bad.
More than it should. It was the moon, it was about to disappear and I was becoming human.
I looked up to see that the Rogue was standing up so I painfully stood up too. I felt a paralyzing pain in my back and cried as I fell back down.
Ah fuck! I cursed and hissed as I closed my eyes. I opened them and saw that the Rogue stood up and was walking toward me confidently.
I felt the liquid against my thighs and reached into my pockets to grab the crushed peaches.
Just before the Rogue could hit me, I threw the crushed peaches in his face and they splattered across it.
They blinded him for a while and he stumbled back.
He grunted in frustration and used his palms to wipe the peaches off his face.
I tried standing up again, but I couldn't. I saw my gun lying on the ground, a few feet away from me and I stretched to the side so I could grab it. I groaned as I stretched as far as my body could till the tips of my fingers were touching the gun.
I threw myself forward one last time with pain ripping through my back, but it was worth it as I grabbed the gun. I sat back up and turned around to face the Rogue. I tried to turn the gun around to face him, but before I could get the gun ready, he smacked it out of my hands and the gun went flying even further away.
He used his other hand to smack me in the face this time and I cried as I felt sharp claws slash my face. It hurt so badly and I could feel blood gush out of it.
I touched my face to feel blood and looked at the Rogue who had a wicked grin on his lips.
How did he even get his claws to come out so quickly when I'm already struggling to see?!
All of a sudden, I felt my wolf powers leave my body and the forest became completely dark. I couldn't see anything except the figure of the Rogue in front of me. I knew he had also become human too.
I looked at the floor and I saw a sharp glint. It was my mom's pendant necklace. It must have slipped out of my pockets when I pulled out the crushed peaches.
I grabbed it and held it tightly. When I looked up, I could no longer see the figure of the Rogue. Where did he go to?
I looked around and saw him bend down to pick something. I was struggling to see, but unlike how dark the forest looked when I first felt myself become human, my eyes were slowly adjusting to the darkness and they could make out details more clearly.
I saw the Rogue coming back and he was holding an axe. Shit!
I tried to stand up, but the pain in my back was even more excruciating. Maybe I should have waited for my fate in Logan's dungeon. I gritted my teeth.
He raised the axe as he got to me and I closed my eyes, waiting for him to end me.
All of a sudden, I felt a surge of energy in my raised palm and I could see a bright light through my closed fists.
I heard the Rogue cry out loudly and my eyes shot open immediately.
