Chapter 57
***DEREK***
"Did you know there are some Werewolf artifacts that contain magical power," Dolores suddenly said and I looked up as I broke the cookie in my hand in my mouth.
I gave her a look that said, "What the fuck are you saying" as I munched the cookies in my mouth.
"Werewolves can't do magic, we are not mages," I replied and she nodded in agreement.
"Yes, but I read that there are some artifacts that have magical properties," she stated and I smiled.
"You're always reading Dolores, don't you get tired of it?" I asked and she shrugged.
"Knowledge is power, the more I read, the more things I know and it helps solves problems," she replied.
"Did you read that too?" I asked with a teasing smile and she chuckled.
"So, tell me about what you read," I said as I ate the other half of the cookie I was holding.
"These artifacts were created by the original Werewolves, Selene and Lycaon and they were imbued with magic," Dolores said with a sparkle in her eyes. She always looked so excited to tell someone about the things she read.
"These artifacts are scattered across the Werewolf race now. Some can control water & tides, some of them can temporarily give the Godly werewolf abilities of Lycaon, some of them have the power of the sun, and several others" she continued quickly.
That was interesting, I had no idea about that. I was about to ask her what they would look like when I felt a presence at the door of the training room.
I looked at the door to see Steve.
"Dolores, your mom called for you," Steve said. Dolores stood up immediately and waved at me before she went away with Steve.
I smiled as I watched her go and I continued staring at the doorway for a while. Me and Dolores had grown closer over the last few months. Not only was she beautiful and smart, but she always knew what to say, and meeting her every evening had slowly become the best part of my day.
I sighed and looked away from the doorway. I picked up a cookie from the small box before me and broke it in half with my teeth.
I picked up the box and stood up, leaving the training room for my room.
I locked the door and set the cookie box on the table next to my bed. I took off my clothes and stepped into the shower.
I turned on the shower and bent my head with my hands resting on the almost unnoticeable light blue marble wall bathroom.
I closed my eyes as the cold water hit my skin and the only thing I could hear was the water beating my skin and flowing on the floor of the bath.
My eyes shot open as I heard a knock on my door. The knock was quiet and low. I raised my head and turned off the shower before stepping out of the bath and grabbing my towel.
"I'm coming," I said as the person knocked on the door again. I changed into fresh pants and put on a T-shirt before going to answer the door.
As I opened the door, I was shocked to see who it was.
"Alvina."

TWO WEEKS AGO.
I heard the Rogue cry out loudly and my eyes shot open immediately. I saw a bright golden blast hit the Rogue in the chest and sent him flying across the forest until he smashed into a tree.
I looked at my hand which was emanating a golden glow and I slowly opened my fists.
My mom's pendant was on my hand and it was glowing. My eyes widened in shock and I glanced at the Rogue that just got hit.
Did it do that?? I immediately threw the pendant on the floor and moved back.
The forest was completely bright now as if it was day and the sun was shining.
I noticed that the excruciating pain in my back was no longer there and my hands immediately reached for my back.
What? I tried to stand up and I got up with ease. I checked my shoulder where an arrow hit me earlier and I saw that the injury was no longer there.
What sorcery is this? I looked up and saw that the Rogue had stood up. That smash was pretty bad and he should be paralyzed worse than I did since he was also human too.
Did the pendant heal him too?
"What is that?" The Rogue asked and immediately ran to the pendant I tossed away.
No! I tried to take the pendant before he could, but he pushed me out of the way. I grunted as I fell back down.
He grabbed the pendant quickly, and he immediately let out a scream of pain.
I watched as the pendant glowed in his hand and his palm began to burn up. He threw the pendant away immediately, crying in horror.
I saw that his hand had gone rotten from the palm up to his elbow. I gasped in shock.
Why didn't that happen to me? I glanced back at the pendant where he threw it and slowly went to it.
I bent to the ground and gulped in fear as my fingers reached for the pendant. I picked it up and closed one of my eyes as I waited for something to happen.
I wasn't hurt like the Rogue and I opened my eyes. I was the only one that could use it. Dolores was right, there were magical artifacts and one of them belonged to my mom.
Maybe, that was why I'm the only one that can use it.
I heard the Rogue shout rage-filled behind me and as I turned around to see him holding the axe with the other arm, I froze.
A golden energy field suddenly formed around me and it pushed him back.
As he fell to the floor, the energy field disappeared and I walked to the Rogue.
This was perfect, I can go to Alvina now, I was no longer weak thanks to my mom's pendant.
I just need to get rid of this Rogue.
