Chapter 72
ALVINA’S POV
The human world was a fascinating place to be in until I got to the major roads and it was a complete mass of people.
I was not used to so many people rushing in and out, where were they all trying to get to?
I wondered.
As I crossed the unusually busy street of the human world, I couldn’t help but notice and sense that among them were some werewolves that had come to live here.
Their scent was faint but I could still sense it.
They had probably lived here long enough for them not to have a strong scent of the wolf.
They were disguising well and I was impressed.
I took a Taxi and immediately went to Larissa’s hospital. I was glad, I had snooped around her bag before leaving for the human world, it made things ten times easier.
As I drove in the backseat of a taxi to the hospital, I began to think of how I would pose the question to them. The last thing I needed was trouble from the human world so I had to be careful.
An Idea popped in my head and I smiled.
All I needed to do was give myself an injury that wouldn’t heal as fast.
I’d have to take some suppressing wolfsbane to be able to keep the wound open, I could ask some questions that way.
As I got to the hospital and paid the driver, I came down the car and picked up a broken shard of glass, cleaned and cut my arm, and as soon as I did, I ran into the entrance of the hospital and yelled for help.
A nurse quickly ran to where I was and pulled me into a ward, asking me a hundred questions a minute as she went.
“What happened?”
“I… don’t know,” I said, sounding disoriented.
She looked like she was buying my story.
“What was the last thing you remember?” she asked.
“I was going home from my night shift and someone yelled at me… I don’t remember what else.”
“Alright, we’ll treat your wound. Do you have a phone?”
She asked.
“I do but I don’t remember where I dropped it.”
“Alright, you probably have a concussion, we are going to administer some drugs to you and stitch your arm”
I nodded and let them do their magic.
Hours later, I woke up and did not remember falling asleep.
I looked around and I seemed to be in a hospital ward.
I looked down at my stitches and bandaged hands and felt like my hand had started to heal.
It probably was because I could no longer feel pain.
“I see, I should have taken more wolvesbane.”
I muttered under my breath.
“Yes, Doctor. I’d be sure to do that.” I heard a voice behind the door before it opened up to reveal a nurse.
“Hello, how are you feeling?” She chirped.
“Great,” I said.
“Okay, that’s good. Do you remember anything from earlier.”
“A little,” I nodded.
“That’s great. Can you tell me what happened earlier?” She asked.
I hadn’t thought this far. What lie was I going to tell her that wouldn’t sound stupid?
“Uh, it’s like I said, I think I was mugged.”
“I’m so sorry, Nurse Leah will come check up on you but in the meantime you can tell me everything, we’ll report to the police and the culprit will be found.”
I nodded and fabricated a complicated story to her and she nodded.
“This is the hospital Dr. Larrissa work, right?” I asked when I had built a trusting rapport with her.
Turns out nurse Katlyn was somewhat of a talkative….
“Yes, you know her?”
She asked, her eyes turning sad.
“Yeah, she treated my mate once when he was about to die,”
“Mate?” Nurse Katlyn frowned.
I forgot humans called their mates a different name.
“Husband,” I clarified.
“Oh, well, that’s Dr. Larissa. Always the best in whatever she does.”
I scanned her face realizing that she was sad because she didn’t know that Larissa was actually alive and back in her pack..
“Is something wrong?” I asked her.
“As a matter of fact, yes,” Nurse Katlyn went ahead to tell me everything that happened within the span of almost two weeks.
Finally she gave me an opening when she began to talk about Larissa’s husband.
“Dr jack is devastated most likely now,”
She said,.
“I didn’t know she was married,”
I smiled politely, urging her to tell me more.
“Are you new here? Almost everyone in town knows!” She rolled her eyes and as if she remembered something, she said excitedly.
“Oh, yes she is with triplets.” She perked up.
“What?”
My eyes widened in dumbfounded shock.
“Yes, I can only imagine how devastated the kids are by this sad news.” Her eyes turned even sadder than before.
I smiled secretly realizing my next mission.
Nurse Katlyn had no idea what she’d just done for me. She’d just made things ten times easier for me.
So, Larrissa has kids…
She was about to leave to get a nurse, a few minutes later when I dragged her by the neck and suffocated her.
She fell to the ground and I stole her uniform and proceeded to sneak out of the room.
I walked to the staff quarters and checked the label of every door, trying to find Larissa’s office or her husband’s office, what was his name?
Yes! Jack.
I stopped in front of a door that had Larissa’s name in bold gold letters and tried to open it but it didn't budge much.
I tried again but it was locked. Annoyed, I Plucked a hairpin from my hair and picked the lock.
It opened after several trials and I rushed into the office.
It was dark when I entered the room, I carefully turned on the switch and I found myself surrounded by yellow tapes.
Seemed that the police had been investigating this place before I had gotten here.
Interesting, very interesting.
Carefully, I moved to her desk and the first thing I noticed was a portrait of three adorable kids.
