Chapter 82
JACK's Pov
"Diana," I whispered, my eyes widening like saucers as I saw my daughter and her brothers in the room with the weird lady.
For a second Diana's eyes veered towards the door and so did the weird lady.
Shit! Did she hear me or was I imagining things?
I stayed still as a cucumber until she looked over at the kids again.
Dave and Daniel were being noisy as usual. I could hear both of them fight over something but I wasn't sure what.
My first instinct was to go in and take the kids out but something was stopping me.
My second instinct was to immediately call the police and report that my missing children were in the hands of an insane woman.
Slowly, I backed away and walked over to my door and opened it, and stepped into the tiny room.
I plopped down on the bed, ready to call the police.
I needed to involve the cops and I needed to know who the fuck that woman was and why she'd kidnapped my kids. Was she in some way related to Larissa?
And why were the kids not crying? Why did they seem so familiar with her?
These questions stopped me from immediately making the call.
Besides, what was I going to tell the police? I had not even reported the crime initially and yes, I knew that didn't matter but I needed to know who the hell that woman was.
There was something that drew me to her and seemed to draw the kids in too.
I didn't believe in fate, but I knew without a doubt that meeting this woman was some kind of fate at work.
I needed to figure out how to get the kids out of there without involving the police or anyone else.
I also needed to go find Larissa. I knew where she was, her location had not changed since Mathew had transferred them to me. Calling the police would only delay me from doing so.
I'd have to take matters into my own hands somehow.
I'd have to break in when she wasn't around.
The receptionist made mention of her Always leaving alone, without the kids to get some food and drinks for breakfast.
That was the perfect time to break in and get back the kids.
It was around 9pm and I hadn't slept a wink, I needed to stay awake in case she decided to move the kids at night or something. I couldn't have that happen. Larissa would straight up murder me and I didn't think I could forgive myself if I lost them again.
Suddenly, I could hear muffled voices from the other room.
I came outside and went to the door.
Diana was yelling something about wanting her mother.
"Relax child, we'll be going to meet your mother soon."
"How long?" Diana yelled.
"Just a bit longer. I'm trying to find the perfect bus…"
"I can tell you are not telling us the full story, Aunt Alvina!" She glared, her eyes staring daggers at the weird lady who was apparently called 'Alvina'
"I am… and you are being a complete brat right now!"
She glared at the kid.
They continued to go back and forth, until Alvina growled angrily, shocking Diana and her brothers.
The growl was guttural, almost not human.
I was about to go in when she began to apologize.
"I'm sorry for yelling,"
She was about to touch Diana when Diana moved back in fear.
"Don't be afraid kids, it's just who I am. It is what you are too,"
What on earth did that mean? I stared in confusion.
What happened? And why the kids suddenly afraid of her?
"How about we all go to bed and I'll tell you all about what you Just saw. Your mother should have told you about your heritage."
Now I was afraid to move out of the spot for fear that she might just butcher the kids.
I didn't know what she was saying or talking about but I knew I couldn't afford to sleep now.
I went back to my room and stayed awake till it was 7am.
At 7am, I showered and waited for the lady to leave.
It was around 8am, the woman finally left to go get breakfast.
As soon as I heard her leave, telling the kids to behave and not come out under any circumstances, I waited by the door until I knew she was a good distance away.
I came outside and ran to the door and knocked.
"Dad?" Daniel's voice shocked me.
How did he know I was the one.
"Dad??” Dave asked, running to the door.
"Dad is that you?"
"Yes, kido. It's me," I said, almost crying my eyes out.
"Diana, dad is here!" Dave and Daniel called out to their sister.
"Daddy!" She yelled out.
"Can you open the door from within?" I asked and they shook their heads.
Of course they couldn't, the lady had locked them in.
"I could break the lock," Daniel said.
I laughed, appreciating his suggestions but knowing there was no way he could do that.
Quickly, I searched my pocket for a pin, I was going to pick the lock open…
This were times, I appreciated my one year of military school. It had taught me a bunch.
Slowly, I began to pick the lock until it clicked. As soon as I opened the door the kids ran to hug me.
"Daddy, I've missed you," they all cried…
I crouched them and hugged, tearing up at the fact that I had actually found them.
"Where's mom?" They each began to ask when they came up for air from the tight hug.
"I'll take you to her," I said to them and they jumped excitedly.
"Come on, let's go." I grabbed them both.
I stopped in my tracks on the staircase when I realized that the receptionist was probably still there.
Carefully, I came down the stairs and saw it was a different receptionist that was just as nonchalant as the other one. This one had get phones propped up to her eyes, laughing at whatever she was watching.
I contemplated whether to just walk out with the kids and check out or get them to run past her. With her eyes glued to the phone, she probably wouldn't notice.
I decided on the latter, that was the safest option.
I climbed back up to where the kids stood and explained the situation.
They nodded in understanding
"On my mark, Dave you go first,*
Dave nodded.
I climbed down the stairs with David and whispered go when the lady was laughing hard at something she was watching and enjoying.
Dave ran past so fast that not only did she not notice, I didn't notice either.
What on earth?
Ignoring that, I did the same with Diana and then it was Daniel's turn.
I gave Daniel the go ahead and he ran out.
It was my time to check out, as I came down the stairs, I met with the receptionist and handed over my keys.
She smiled at me and told me to have a nice day.
I met with the kids at the junction and immediately ushered them into my car and drove off…
I was going straight Larissa's location no matter what.
I called the boarding school on my way to tell them that I had found the kids.
